The arrival of the Internet of Things (loT for its acronym in English Internet of Things) and its implementation in the industry, will lead to the fourth industrial revolution.
To understand how this is possible, it should be mentioned that although there is no exact definition of the Internet of Things, experts point out that the intelligent connectivity between devices that allows this type of technology is increasingly implemented on production floors, for what is already used the term «Industrial Internet of Things» to describe the detection and communication between objects in the productive sector.
Thanks to this technological tool, companies have been able to leave the decisions of their factories in the «hands» of smart objects, thereby achieving greater efficiency and much smaller margins of error.
According to the Modern Machine Shop site, the industrial loT is creating a drastic change in the industry, which will lead to a reconfiguration that is already seen as the next Industrial Revolution.
After the revolution that occurred in the 1800s, when the changes focused on mechanization, mainly motivated by steam engines; mass production, which originated powered by electricity and the assembly line around the 1900s; and automation, powered by computers in the late 1900s, is coming the fourth industrial revolution, called Industry 4.0
“As the fourth industrial revolution, it has taken the name of Industry 4.0, maintaining the way in which new versions of software are normally designated. This is appropriate, considering that the latest industrial revolution is powered by the Internet and web-enabled software applications capable of processing manufacturing data streams, ”the site explains.
Industry 4.0 is also the term adopted in Germany by a group of companies, universities, government and workers, which represents the vision for the future of manufacturing not only in that country but throughout the world.
With this initiative, it seeks to maintain its leadership both as a user and as a developer of intelligent technology, therefore, it includes a detailed conceptual structure, as well as a very specific and substantial strategy to promote and drive advanced manufacturing.
In Mexico there are several companies that are making efforts in terms of innovation based on the IoT, MSP is one of the key players that today seeks to benefit companies and industries with communication technologies and platforms, which will come to promote the restructuring of the industry, to create a work environment of integrated productivity between the worker and smart machines, and thus taking a step in the digital transformation of companies.
